The DMP Air Jordan 1 Celtics released in 2009 as part of a “Defining Moments Package” that also included a rendition of the classic black and red Air Jordan 1.
The DMP pack commemorates Jordan getting 63 points in a game against the Boston Celtics in 1986. Paying homage, these feature the date of the high scoring game on the inside of the tongue. The kicks come packaged in a special stacked pull-out drawer-style box.
Mostly black and white, with a little bit of green? Basically any dark colored pants and top will go great with these. I suggest pants with a strong taper since the high cut on these boasts a really skinny ankle.
I had to cop this pack when it first dropped, and people were sleeping on these anyway, so I was able to cop the display pair for below retail right from Footlocker. The thing to get straight about these is that point of this shoe is the fresh colorway, not the materials or fit. I’d basically reserve wearing these for when you are not required to do any physical activity or move around that much!
How Are The Materials?
Part of the reason everyone was sleeping / hating on these is due to the materials. These are made of a very plastic-like leather except for the swoosh which is suede but feels more like cheap felt. Luckily, the colorway is so great on these that I’m willing to overlook the quality issues with respect to build and materials. These definitely are a pair you would get more for the look than for buttery leather. That said, these do have a solid build and have held up rather well, taking abuse and still staying pretty much new looking. I’ve even worn these in the rain!
How Do They Fit?
The DMP Air Jordan 1 Celtics fit true to size although I went a half size up and I think they feel a little better with a bit of extra room. Air Jordan 1s are notoriously uncomfortable, and these are basically passable comfort-wise.
